Hakan Gurbey was born on November 23th, 1981, in Werdohl, Germany where he spent his childhood. His interest in theatre emerged during his high school years. He featured in several plays as an amateur. He acted in plays in Germany between 1996-2006. He also professionally performed dance and sang in his band during his years in Germany.
In 2006, moving to İstanbul, he began his traning at “Ekol Drama Sanat Evi” under Ayla Algan and Umit Cirak,s mentorship.
After having completed his training at “Ekol Drama Sanat Evi”, he enrolled in “Çağdaş Sinema ve Oyunculuk Atölyesi” which nowadays known as 3MOTA. His mentors were Umit Cirak, Ali Dusenkalkar, Guvenc Dagustun and Ahmet Cemal. For four years, he took on-camera acting, authoring, dance, and singing classes. In 2007, he featured as a guest actor in “Lodos: Bir Yol Hikayesi” directed by Didem Erayda. This was his first experience as a professional cinema actor. During his training in “Çağdaş Sinema ve Oyunculuk Atölyesi”, in 2008 he perfomed Cayci Osman in “Son Aga”, TV series directed by Ozer Kiziltan.
In 2009, accepting Sinan Cetin’s offer, he played as Korkut in “Ah Kalbim”, TV series directed by Ebru Yalcin. In 2010, he experienced his big-screen appearance as Ali Sahin in a German produced film “Mordkommission Istanbul Die Steinernen Krieger”, directed by Michael Kreindl. This film had a tremendous impression in Germany. In 2011, he performed Bombacı Ekrem in TV series, Sakarya Firat, on Osman Sinav’s offer.
Upon Gonul Ulku and Gazanfer Ozcan’s offer, Hakan Gurbey returned to the theaters, between 2013 and 2016 and acted in several plays and musicals.
Hakan is fluent in German. He continues his career as an actor in Istanbul.
